The process to become a USASA athlete begins with obtaining a USASA membership. We would advise becoming familiar with the USASA website initially. Adults memberships have a few more items to complete after the USASA membership (more info below). Once you have the membership, then join the Stack Team App to stay in the loop of in-season communication. To learn more, go to the Team App page.

18 and over Snowboard or Freeski athletes (we recommend starting this process 3-4 weeks prior to the competition or volunteer start date):
4. Safe Sport Training and a Background Check is required. to complete the USSA membership Follow the directions on your confirmation emails.
USASA Volunteers (we recommend starting this process 3-4 weeks prior to the volunteer start date):

- Go to usasa.org, click on memberships, then JOIN. (Best to do this on a laptop instead of a phone)
- Personal: Name of the athlete.
- Membership: USASA Competitor
- Personal Info: Athlete's info, parent/caregivers' email address, and cell phone number.
- Series & Insurance: Southeastern Series
- Pay for an annual membership.
- You will get a confirmation email from USASA with your member number. The member number is very important to keep. This is what is used to login to the USASA website and register for events. This number will also let you renew your membership year after year.
18 and over Snowboard or Freeski athletes (we recommend starting this process 3-4 weeks prior to the competition or volunteer start date):
- Follow steps 1-7 above.
- You will get a confirmation email from USASA with your member number and another email with directions for next steps: "Per the Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017, all USASA members age 18 and up must complete a background check and safety training. These requirements are being managed through US Ski & Snowboard, and you must have an active US Ski & Snowboard membership before your USASA membership can be activated or used."

USASA Volunteers (we recommend starting this process 3-4 weeks prior to the volunteer start date):
- Complete 1-6 above. For membership type, click Volunteer.
- Volunteers must also join US Ski & Snowboard. Click here to go to US Ski & Snowboard to purchase.
- All USASA members over the age of 18 must complete SafeSport training, will be subject to background screening and may not purchase a one-day membership. This screening must be completed as part of your US Ski & Snowboard membership in the category represented at USASA.
